KCL STAR
Dear Madam/Sir

KCL STAR would like to invite you to join us to celebrate our annual Action Day, Thursday 26th February. This year we are supporting the campaign ‘Let them Work’. This is a campaign supported by the Refugee Council, TUC and STAR. It is asking that all asylum seekers should receive entitlement to work after six months including those who have been refused asylum.

In support of the campaign we are holding an exhibition by a world renowned photographer, Vehbi Koca. We hope to use his work to attract the attention of our student body and visitors to King’s College London in order to highlight this issue.

This event will be held at

We are also holding a second event in the evening of Thursday 26th February. This is a viewing of a DVD by Hulya Ozturk. This focuses on the personal experience of four asylum seekers. In addition at about 6.30pm refugee community advocate and campaigner Farshid Ariyan is giving information and speech about why work permits should be extended to asylum seekers and an overall information about refugee status in the UK and EC. He will be opening a discussion, question and answer among the audience. Afterwards we will ask for the opinions of or any comments from the audience. This should allow you the opportunity to express your opinion on this issue and should be very interesting and challenging to your ideas.
